In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, broadcasters are providing breaking news, tallying and analysing the numbers as they are announced by various authorities, and media organizations are adding content to their daily programming to keep communities informed with timely, trusted, reliable information.


What is the role of public broadcasters during the pandemic? What measures can be taken to protect journalists? And how important is it to protect freedom of the press especially during a time like this?


We put these questions to Noel Curran, the Director-General of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
