We encounter plastic almost every moment of our lives; from the keyboard on which I am typing now, the mouse, gadgets in my pocket, electronic equipment all around me, name them. Do you ever wonder where all the plastic goes when we are done with them?
Well, in some cases they are properly disposed and recycled, however a lot of waste of this material is lying in the fields and farms and some more end up in rivers and oceans.
Over 100 million marine animals are killed each year due to plastic waste in the ocean. (https://conserveturtles.org) Currently, it is estimated that there are 100 million tons of the same waste in oceans around the world.
This little stream in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, shows the journey of this waste from the shops and houses to the ocean. Watch and weep!
